What it is. WoofWalk is a free app for dog owners and dog walkers, made in County Durham. It finds the nearest bin for a bagged dog mess, records your walks, lists pubs, hotels and vets near you, and turns every recorded walk into help for a UK rescue charity of the walker's choosing. No subscription, no paid tier.

Launch. Google Play: 10 August 2026. Apple App Store: 9 October 2026. Free download: woofwalk.app/install (sends iPhone and Android users to the right store). More than 2,500 installs across iPhone and Android in the first two months (to 11 October 2026).

The bin map. About 90,000 litter and dog-waste bins mapped across the UK: 78,474 from OpenStreetMap plus more than 11,000 added by walkers where the map was missing one. The app points to the nearest bin and how far away it is, so a bagged mess goes in a bin rather than on a branch or a fence post. Walkers can add a bin the map does not have.

Places and people. More than 35,000 pubs, more than 22,000 hotels and more than 2,400 vet practices on the map (OpenStreetMap, refreshed by the app's users).

Not yet quotable. How many bags were binned because of the app: the measure is being added and will be reported once it has a month of data. Walker bookings: the booking feature is new; figures follow once there is something worth reporting.
